"MY JOURNEY STARTED AT
SEVEN YEARS OLD, ON A SHIP
CARRYING THOUSANDS TO
A FARAWAY COUNTRY."
CARLOS ESPOSITO
MASONRY BUSINESS
OWNER AND AUTHOR
"I still remember reaching Buenos Aires after our journey from Spain in 1939. My father told me, 'This is where our new life begins'...
When I was 21 my father died suddenly, and I took over his masonry firm. I put all my energies into growing it, as if to repay him for the start he gave me.
The construction boom meant our turnover shot up as fast as the new buildings on the city skyline. It lasted right up until 1980.
In '82 a long period of instability began. Luckily, I was able to open an account in Geneva. I was glad I did - otherwise, I could have lost everything.
My wife, Carla, is also my closest adviser. Together we decided to merge the firm, and now it is one of the largest and most respected in Argentina.
Now I'm older, I take life easier. I recently wrote my first book - about architecture. What else would I write about?
This was my journey to prosperity. My son runs the business now, though I advise him. He, too, wants to make his mark on our city - and he starts from an even better place than I did".
EVERY JOURNEY IS UNIQUE
